Greetings, Here are some trail updates for Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2017:
High School Racing at Galena Lodge – Friday and Saturday, Sept. 15 & 16
This weekend Galena Lodge is hosting the Galena Gallop mountain bike race. Its the Idaho Interscholastic League‘s third race of the 2017 Idaho High School mountain bike race series. The events start on Friday with course set up in the morning, and the course open to the racers for inspection starting at noon. The racing takes place on Saturday.
Last weekends races in Targhee reportedly saw around 450 race starts, and the event at Galena may draw even higher numbers due to its closer proximity to Boise. Parking is very limited at Galena, and this weekend’s race participants and spectators are being asked to comply with specific parking requirements for the weekend of racing. Here is a link to a flyer produced by the race organizers that includes information about the parking restrictions: Galena Gallup Flyer
The flyer for the race describes that, for the event, no parking will be available in the main gravel parking lot at Galena. The flyer also indicates that designated parking will be established and signed at “Prairie and Russian John Campgrounds,” and that buses and a box truck for bikes/gear will be running throughout the day both Friday and Saturday between Galena Lodge and Prairie/Russian John Campgrounds. Handicap parking will be available at the infield area located at Galena Lodge.
