On Monday morning, April 20, west of Hailey, there were three moose near the top of Wilson Gulch. They were grazing where the BLM’s Centerline and Wilson Gulch trails meet. I observed them, then quickly moved away from them. Signs have been installed, warning of the moose and asking people to stay away and to keep pets on leash.
If you happen upon moose, try to stay far away. Do not linger. Depart the area. If you are in, or near, an area were moose have been reported, by all means keep your pets on leash. Dogs and moose do not get along. Moose stomp dogs to protect themselves or their young.
